The economic development strategy involves a multi-faceted approach to dealing with the economic health of Lancaster County. The key objective is to obtain a healthy balance of strategic growth and improved quality of life.

To reach this objective Lancaster has developed a strategy to encourage development which is aesthetically pleasing and consistent with the county's comprehensive plan, expands the long term tax base, provides quality housing for all, provides goods, jobs and upward mobility for all citizens, and enhances the experiences of visitors.
